“West’s debut showcases riveting storytelling.” - Kirkus Reviews It’s a truly remarkable debut.” - Robison Wells, author of VARIANT PIVOT POINT is at once tense and romantic, challenging and engaging. “The unique structure, seeing two alternate realities playing out at once, leaves you pleading with the characters-don’t answer that phone, don’t go in that house, don’t talk to that person. “With superb storytelling, a masterful blend of paranormal and normal, a helping of wit and humor, and a mouthwatering romance, PIVOT POINT is one of the most delicious books I’ve read.” - Elana Johnson, author of POSSESSION “West’s premise is a winner, and Addie is the kind of heroine readers would want as a best friend-loyal, unpretentious, and thoughtful.…What truly makes West’s story memorable, however, is Addie’s wry humor…and the book’s fascinating exploration of how life can change with one simple choice.” - Publishers Weekly (starred review) I read an Advanced Reading Copy for this review.“An expertly plotted, deliciously clever story.” - Kiersten White, NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author of PARANORMALCY

My only complaint – I have to wait for book two.Ĭontent Rating: Medium, for some language, very brief violence and a non-graphic mention of sexual assault.

And Addie is my definition of a hero – brave, honest, and willing to sacrifice to keep the ones she loves safe.ĭo not read this book alone – you will want someone to talk to after you are done with it. Her best friend, Laila, is snarky but likable. I couldn’t put this book down all the way until the perfect, heart-wrenching ending. She doesn’t just tell two completely different versions of the future – she intertwines them in very clever ways. I’m convinced that Kasie West is a genius. They were funny, witty and gave clues to which reality the chapter was about. I liked the dictionary definitions at the beginning of each chapter. This whole book was written with a lot of personality. You get to see each of the choices play out in alternating chapters. Everyone has mental abilities and powers in the small world Addie lives in.Īddie is faced with a choice of continuing to live where everyone has mental abilities or living in the “normal” world. And by paranormal I mean “real” paranormal mind powers and not like werewolves and vampires and crap like that. It seems contemporary but there is a small paranormal twist to the whole thing. The world in Pivot Point seems like the kind of world that Lois Lowry would write about. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she’s willing to live through. It’s the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Addison Coleman’s life is one big “What if?” As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes.
